Assessment flow

Step 1: Schedule

Schedule your assessment here! Just email to let us know your preferred date/time for a 25-minute assessment and we’ll get back to you ASAP!

Step 2: Assessment

Our Helpdesk Instructor can meet you F2F (Hiroshima/Hashimoto) or on Zoom/Teams. He/She will ask you a series of questions in English (some of which can be seen here).

Step 3: Results & Improve

The Helpdesk Instructor will let you know your CEFR level (more about the CEFR score here) after the assessment and we can send you a report with your level and our training recommendations (useful for showing your manager!)

Who can take the English Helpdesk CEFR assessment?

Any MMJ TM, Japanese or non-Japanese can take the assessment to find out their current CEFR score!

Whether you’re a beginner or near-native speaker, the English Helpdesk can assess your English and help you improve!

What is the assessment?

The assessment measures your communication ability using the CEFR scale (more about CEFR here)

Part 1: 15-minute Q&A about your work, career, responsibilities, hobbies and experience.
Part 2: 10-minute discussion on general topics such as sports, current events, world news etc.

When do I receive the assessment results?

Assessment results will be shared with you at the end of the assessment and, if requested, a report, with recommendations, (see here for an example) will be sent to you by email after.

Is there anything I should prepare for the assessment?

Please have a microphone and headset ready if you’re taking the assessment on Teams/Zoom. We recommend doing the assessment in a quiet location so you can listen without distraction.
